Ekrem İmamoğlu reveals his favorite banner from the METU graduation
Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu announced that he had the opportunity to see the banners displayed by students at the METU graduation ceremony. İmamoğlu also pointed out his favorite banner.
The METU 2024-2025 academic year graduation ceremony was held at the Devrim Stadium. The ceremony, where thousands of students received their diplomas, began with a cortege march where students carried banners.
Students frequently carried signs and banners referencing the cancelled diploma of CHP's presidential candidate Ekrem İmamoğlu and the protests during the March 19 process, as well as photographs of Atatürk.
CHP's imprisoned presidential candidate Ekrem İmamoğlu commented on the banners displayed at the METU graduation ceremony. The following statement was made on behalf of İmamoğlu from the Presidential Candidate Office's X account:
"I had the opportunity to see the banners displayed during the graduation ceremony at METU, one of our country's pride and joy universities. My favorite is this one: 'A diploma cannot be created from nothing, nor can it be destroyed from existence'."
