Emekli Memur-Sen president calls for 'flat-rate' adjustment for pensions

Emekli Memur-Sen stated in an announcement that Ali Küçükkösen pointed out that retirees are unable to sustain their lives with their current monthly pensions.

Küçükkösen noted that retirees are still young enough to raise their voices, saying, "We are here to reflect the reality that we are experienced, determined, and deserving of respect, in opposition to the perspective that views retirees merely as elderly people."

Küçükkösen drew attention to the fact that retirees, like public officials, are part of the personnel system, emphasizing that the status is not just a right and benefit granted to public employees, but also a right that should encompass public retirees.

DISPROPORTION BETWEEN PUBLIC OFFICIAL SALARY AND PENSION

Stating that the position from which they retired affects their rights not only while working or at the time of retirement, but throughout the entire retirement process, Küçükkösen expressed that there is a disproportionate, unfair, and inequitable difference between the active duty salary of a public official and their pension.

Küçükkösen concluded with the following remarks:

"Our most natural expectation from the public employer is to live the rest of our lives with a salary worthy of human dignity, without worrying about making ends meet, and in peace. Our expectation from our state is for the flat-rate payment made to public officials to be reflected to retirees as well, to reduce the gap between employees and retirees, to address deficiencies, and for our voice to be heard."
