Emotional farewell from Kamuran Akkor to her sister Gönül Akkor

Gönül Akkor, one of the legendary names of Turkish art music, has passed away at the age of 82. An emotional post came from her sister, Kamuran Akkor, who is also a singer. 

Gönül Akkor, a master of Turkish art music, passed away on Monday, December 30, at the age of 82 in a private hospital in Istanbul where she had been receiving treatment for some time.

Kamuran Akkor also published an emotional farewell message regarding her sister. The artist stated, "I am in deep sorrow over the loss of the greatest voice our music has ever seen, my respected elder, my dear sister Gönül Akkor. With love, with respect, you will always live in our hearts, the sultan of hearts. May your place be in heaven, my pioneer, my sister."

The news of the passing of Akkor, who had begun to experience speech difficulties following a brain hemorrhage in 2002, was shared by musician and actress Melike Demirağ. In a post on her social media account, Demirağ said, "My dear Gönül Akkor has passed from this realm."
