Entry of Ülkü Ocakları president banned: Shocking decision from the TRNC
With a decision by the Council of Ministers of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) published in the Official Gazette on August 22, 2025, a total of 16 people, including citizens of the Republic of Turkey and Portugal, have been banned from entering the country. It was stated that the ban was issued in accordance with a security report prepared by the General Directorate of Police.
According to a report by İsmail Arı from BirGün, the decision stated that the individuals in question were linked to "foreign-connected criminal organizations" and were associated with acts such as "grievous bodily harm, shootings, and intentional damage against certain individuals and businesses in the TRNC." The statement emphasized that the entry of these 16 individuals was banned under the Aliens and Immigration Law in order to protect public order and social peace.
ENTRY OF ÜLKÜ OCAKLARI PRESIDENT BANNED
Among the names subject to the ban is 30-year-old Girne Ülkü Ocakları President Timuçin Açık. Açık's name drew attention on the list, which was published in the Official Gazette along with names and dates of birth.
"I HAVE NO CONNECTION"
It was reported that Timuçin Açık confirmed the ban against him but argued that he had no connection to any criminal organizations. Açık reportedly stated, "My entry into Northern Cyprus has been banned, but the claim that I have a connection to a criminal organization is not true. I had been living there for eight years. If I had such a relationship, this decision would have been taken earlier."
