In the retrial held at the Ankara 16th High Criminal Court, Enver Altaylı's son-in-law Metin Can Yılmaz was released under judicial control conditions.
Metin Can Yılmaz, who was accused of attempting to abduct former intelligence officer Mehmet Barıner along with Enver Altaylı in addition to FETÖ membership, was acquitted of espionage charges but had been sentenced to 12 years in prison for FETÖ membership.
The 3rd Criminal Chamber of the Court of Cassation overturned the sentence, which had been upheld by the appellate court, on procedural grounds because Yılmaz was not asked for his final statement.
