Enver Aysever detained
Journalist Enver Aysever has been detained due to remarks made on his YouTube program.
It has been reported that journalist and author Enver Aysever has been detained due to remarks made in a video published on his YouTube channel.
According to a report in Birgün, Aysever had become a subject of debate on social media due to expressions he used while criticizing the statement "I fought so that communism would not come to our country," made by Hasan İmamoğlu, the father of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, in an interview with Sözcü. In his commentary in the video, he had said, "Being right-wing is a crime. When you are a right-winger, you become immoral, or your morality becomes immorality."
He argued his words were distorted
Following the growing backlash, Aysever had issued a statement claiming his words were taken out of context. In his post, Aysever had used the following expressions:
"As always, they have distorted my words! I was commenting on Hasan İmamoğlu's words. The description I made for 'right-wingers' referred to types such as those who seize state property, those who massacre nature, fake religious people, those who exploit nationalism, and tender-profiteering wealthy individuals. I said that those I described as 'leftists' are those who love and protect their country, people, and animals, and those who want an equal, fair, and free world. In other words, I said that true believers and sincere patriots are also included in this. I gave an example through a line of reasoning. Unfortunately, they have targeted me again without watching the broadcast. Am I surprised? No!"
