Erdal Beşikçioğlu's municipal decision draws attention! Is there a crisis with Mansur Yavaş?
CHP Etimesgut Mayor Erdal Beşikçioğlu has withdrawn from the Union of Historical Towns, which is chaired by Mansur Yavaş.
A remarkable decision was taken during the first session of the Etimesgut Municipality's July ordinary council meeting.
According to the pro-government newspaper Sabah, the mayoral proposal submitted to the municipal council requested that Etimesgut Municipality withdraw its membership from the Union of Historical Towns, which is chaired by Ankara Metropolitan Municipality (ABB) Mayor Mansur Yavaş.

This decision by Mayor Erdal Beşikçioğlu has brought back to the agenda the claims discussed during the candidate selection process before the March 31 Local Elections.
CLAIMS THAT YAVAŞ WAS CONSIDERING ANOTHER NAME FOR ETİMESGUT
It had been alleged that ABB Mayor Yavaş wanted to nominate Mesut Özarslan, who has roots in the İYİ Party, for Etimesgut Municipality, but considered withdrawing from his candidacy after the CHP Headquarters decided on Erdal Beşikçioğlu.
In an interview regarding the candidacy crisis claims, Beşikçioğlu had said, "There was never such tension, and there won't be, nor will there ever be. Mansur Yavaş is the elder brother of Ankara, he is our elder brother, and the younger brother does what the elder brother says."
