Erden Timur referred to the courthouse: Galatasaray fans begin gathering in Çağlayan

As part of an investigation into allegations of betting in football, detention warrants were issued for a total of 29 people, including 14 football players. In simultaneous operations conducted in 11 provinces, centered in Istanbul, 26 suspects, including former Galatasaray executive Erden Timur, were detained on Friday.

It was learned that among the detained suspects, in addition to former Galatasaray executive and businessman Erden Timur, were Eyüpspor Vice President Fatih Kulaksız, Turkish Football Federation (TFF) Foreign Relations and National Teams Administrative Director Buğra Cem İmamoğulları, and several football players. Following their processing, the suspects were referred to the Istanbul Courthouse in Çağlayan.

Galatasaray fans have begun gathering in front of the Istanbul Courthouse to show their support for Erden Timur.

WHAT HAPPENED IN THE INVESTIGATION?

Detention warrants had been issued for 29 people, 14 of whom are football players, as part of the football betting investigation. In simultaneous operations carried out in 11 provinces centered in Istanbul, former Galatasaray executive Erden Timur, Eyüpspor Vice President Fatih Kulaksız, and a TFF executive were also detained.

Figen Özkaya, the wife of Eyüpspor President Murat Özkaya, who is currently in custody as part of the investigation, was released after giving her statement to the prosecutor's office.

WHAT ARE THE CHARGES?

According to information in the investigation file, 6 suspects are accused of "influencing the outcome of the Kasımpaşa-Samsunspor match," while 14 football players are being investigated on allegations of "betting on their own team's match in a way that would influence the outcome, in favor of the opposing team winning."
