Erdoğan congratulates the national team in the locker room

In the 2024 European Football Championship (EURO 2024) quarter-final match, the A National Football Team was eliminated from the tournament after a 2-1 defeat to the Netherlands. AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who traveled to Germany for the match, followed the game from the protocol tribune at the Berlin Olympic Stadium.

After the match, Erdoğan went down to the Turkish National Team's locker room and congratulated the players one by one. Emphasizing that they fought well, AKP Chairman and President Erdoğan stated, "I congratulate you all.

Even though we received this result here today, you are our champions.

We are pleased with you. There is a future for this, and we will carry this forward in the future as well. I believe in this. You brought this journey here very successfully."

President Erdoğan was accompanied during his visit by Minister of Youth and Sports Osman Aşkın Bak, Chief Advisor to the President on Foreign Policy and Security Ambassador Akif Çağatay Kılıç, UEFA Executive Committee Member Servet Yardımcı, and Turkish Football Federation President Mehmet Büyükekşi.
