Erdoğan meets with Fink, pro-government media changes its tone on BlackRock
Following the meeting between AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and BlackRock CEO Larry Fink, the headlines and tone of pro-government media have shifted. BlackRock had been protested in front of its New York headquarters in 2023 on the grounds of "supporting Israel."
AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan met yesterday (March 27) with Larry Fink, CEO of BlackRock, known as the world's largest asset management company.
The meeting, held at the Presidential Dolmabahçe Working Office in Istanbul, was closed to the press. Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar, and World Economic Forum (WEF) Senior Executive Alois Zwinggi were also present at the meeting.
In a statement issued by the Palace regarding the meeting, it was stated: "Our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan received World Economic Forum and BlackRock Chairman Laurence D. Fink at the Presidential Dolmabahçe Working Office."
THE COMPANY WAS PROTESTED IN NEW YORK IN 2023
BlackRock was protested in front of its headquarters in New York in 2023 for its support of Israel. In 2025, hundreds of pro-Palestine protesters held a march in Manhattan with slogans targeting the company.
Pro-government media had reported on the 2023 protest footage with the phrasing: "Protesters in the US stormed the New York headquarters of BlackRock, which has invested over 33 billion dollars in the occupying Israel."

However, following Erdoğan's meeting with Fink, the pro-government media's tone regarding the Israel-supporting BlackRock has changed.
The newspaper Sabah reported the news of the Erdoğan-Fink meeting with the headline 'President Erdoğan received World Economic Forum Chairman Fink'.

On the other hand, it was noted that the same tone was used by high-follower social media accounts on the X platform that publish in favor of the government.
