Erdoğan meets with Foreign Minister Sheibani of Syria's interim administration
President Erdoğan met with Syria's interim Foreign Minister Sheibani in Ankara. Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan also attended the meeting.
President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan met with Esad Hasan Sheibani, the Foreign Minister of the interim administration established in Syria.
The meeting, held at the Presidential Complex in Ankara, took place behind closed doors.
Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan also attended the meeting. Following the meeting, a statement was issued by the Directorate of Communications. The statement included the following remarks:
"Our President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, received the Foreign Minister of the New Syrian Administration Esad Hasan Sheibani, Defense Minister Merhef Abu Kasra, and General Intelligence Agency Chief Enes Hattab at the Presidential Complex. During the reception, the latest situation in Syria and the steps to be taken on the basis of preserving the country's territorial integrity were discussed.
President Erdoğan stated that the Assad regime left behind great destruction, and that Turkey would support efforts to meet the urgent needs of the brotherly Syrian people and the reconstruction of the country, emphasizing in this regard the importance of lifting international sanctions on Syria. President Erdoğan underlined that there is no place for terrorist organizations in the future of Syria."
