Erdoğan meets with Georgian Prime Minister

President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan met with Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze at the Presidential Complex. A joint press conference was held after the meeting. 

Erdoğan made the following statements at the press conference:

"We are continuing our efforts to ensure the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars Railway, the backbone of the Middle Corridor, returns to full operational capacity. 

We focused on steps that will make our fight against terrorist organizations, primarily FETÖ and the PKK, and organized crime networks more effective with Georgia.

The entire international community must support the freedom struggle for which the Palestinian people have paid a heavy price, on the basis of law and diplomacy."

Kobakhidze, expressing his gratitude, stated the following:

"This is a country with which we have a strategic partnership, and we attach great importance to this partnership. I am very happy to be visiting President Erdoğan. We condemn the attack on the Prime Minister of Slovakia and wish him a speedy recovery. 

We discussed keeping our relations at the highest level. The President said he would visit Georgia as soon as possible, and we hope this visit takes place soon."

Following the press conference, a memorandum of understanding in the field of energy was signed between the two countries.

BAYRAKTAR SIGNED 

Following the bilateral and inter-delegation meetings, a "Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the Field of Energy" was signed between the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources of the Republic of Türkiye and the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia in the presence of Erdoğan and Kobakhidze.

The memorandum was signed by Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar on behalf of Türkiye, and by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Levan Davitashvili on behalf of Georgia.
