Erdoğan, Özel, and Bahçeli head to the TRNC: Will there be a third meeting?

Republican People's Party (CHP) Chairman Özgür Özel will travel to the TRNC for the 50th anniversary of the Cyprus Peace Operation.

Özel, who will hold meetings in the TRNC for 3 days, will be accompanied by a delegation consisting of Secretary General Selin Sayek Böke, Deputy Chairmen İlhan Uzgel and Yankı Bağcıoğlu, Istanbul MP Namık Tan, and Party Assembly Member Selin Kırçiçek.

On the other hand, former CHP chairmen Murat Karayalçın, Hikmet Çetin, and Altan Öymen, as well as Önder Sav, who served as Minister of Labor in the cabinet that carried out the Peace Operation, will also be present during Özel's TRNC visit.

Prof. Dr. Ayşe Güneş Ayata, daughter of the late Foreign Minister Turan Güneş—who inspired the code phrase "Ayşe should go on vacation" during the Cyprus Peace Operation—will also be in the TRNC at the invitation of CHP leader Özel.

On the first day of his TRNC program, Özel will visit the mausoleums of Fazıl Küçük, the first Vice President of the TRNC, and Rauf Denktaş, the first President of the TRNC.

CHP leader Özel and his delegation will first visit Republican Turkish Party (CTP) Chairman Tufan Erhürman at the party headquarters on Friday, July 19. Afterward, he will meet with TRNC President Ersin Tatar, TRNC Foreign Minister Tahsin Ertuğruloğlu, and TRNC Assembly Speaker Zorlu Töre. Özel is also expected to meet with previous TRNC presidents. Finally, CHP leader Özel will attend the reception hosted by Assembly Speaker Töre at the Parliament.

ERDOĞAN AND BAHÇELİ WILL ALSO BE IN THE TRNC ON JULY 20

AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli will also attend the official ceremonies to be held on Saturday, July 20, for the 50th anniversary of the Cyprus Peace Operation. Özel will also be present at this ceremony.

The official ceremony will begin with a wreath-laying at the Nicosia Atatürk Monument. This will be followed by the signing of the monument's special guestbook. After the official parade, TRNC President Tatar and President Erdoğan will deliver speeches. The official program will conclude with a folk dance performance and a mehter (Ottoman military band) concert.
