An investigation was launched against comedian Deniz Göktaş for 'insulting religious values' following his stand-up show titled 'Dead Sea' (Ölü Deniz), and Göktaş was detained at the airport upon his return from abroad.

While the arrest of Göktaş, whose images in handcuffs were circulated, on charges of 'insulting the President' and 'insulting religious values' continues to be a major topic of discussion, the first statement regarding the young comedian has come from the Palace.

Presidential Chief Advisor Oktay Saral stated in his post on his X account, "It is a disgrace for Turkey that a pathetic so-called comedian has occupied this country's agenda for days.
