Erdoğan's remarks on the process in Malazgirt: 'History is being rewritten in our region'

AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan spoke at an event held in the Malazgirt district of Muş on the occasion of the 955th anniversary of the Battle of Malazgirt.

Stating that the Battle of Malazgirt opened the gates of Anatolia to the Turks, Erdoğan said that these lands were also defended against invaders 850 years later.

Erdoğan said, "I commemorate our ancestors who opened the gates of this homeland to us with Malazgirt. We are a nation in love with its independence that has defended this paradise homeland, which we made our eternal home at Malazgirt, against invaders 850 years later at the cost of our lives, and has taken and given lives for this cause."

"WE DO NOT BOW TO ANYONE WHEN OUR HOMELAND IS AT STAKE"

Stating that they will not make concessions when the future of the homeland, state, and nation is at stake, Erdoğan said, "We may forgo everything when necessary, but when it comes to our homeland, when it comes to the future of our state and nation, we do not bow to anyone. From now on, we will continue to exist here until the end of time and live freely in these lands with our heads held high, our foreheads clear, and a heart of steel."

"WE HAVE PUT OUR BODIES UNDER THE STONE"

In his speech, Erdoğan also touched upon the second reconciliation process called 'Terror-Free Turkey', stating that the geography where Turkey is located carries various risks.

Erdoğan said, "We have put our bodies under the stone. Geographically, we are not living in a rose garden without thorns. In this geography, we have no choice but to be strong and united. We have tied our horse's tail to achieve our goals of a terror-free Turkey and a terror-free region. We have tied our horse's tail to make the geography we are in a land of peace and well-being once again."

"HISTORY IS BEING REWRITTEN IN OUR REGION"

Stating that important developments are taking place in the region, Erdoğan said, "Let friend and foe alike know and understand this: history is being rewritten in our region. Turkey is shaping history with its conscientious, principled, and peaceful policies."

Erdoğan stated that Turkey cannot be turned from its path through various initiatives, adding, "Those who think they will stop Turkey's blessed march with provocations and traps are doomed to disappointment. We do not enter different paths due to the provocations of others."
