Erdoğan's statement on a terror-free Turkey: 'My shepherd brothers will take their small and large livestock and head to the highlands with ease'

In response to a young man from Mardin who thanked him for his efforts toward a terror-free Turkey and asked what would happen in the coming period, Erdoğan replied, "All my shepherd brothers will now take their animals, their small and large livestock, and head to the highlands with ease. Hopefully, they will all say together in those pastures, 'these are my animals now, this is my small livestock, this is my large livestock,' and we will take pride in them. All the shepherd brothers I speak with right now have peace and happiness."

AKP Chairman and President Erdoğan met with young people and national athletes at the Presidential Nation's Library for the May 19 holiday. Following his speech, Erdoğan answered questions from the youth.

A young man named Seyithan from Mardin stated that as a young person from Mardin, he feels great happiness that peace now prevails in this beautiful region, which was associated with terrorism for years.

Emphasizing that growing up in these lands where brotherhood, peace, and trust are flourishing again and looking to the future with hope is very precious to them, the young man said, "Thanks to you, it is no longer the sound of gunfire that is heard, but the laughter of children. Previously, terrorism dominated the region. During my time, the effects of terrorism were still felt. But now, thanks to you, terrorism will never be mentioned. Thanks to your determined stance, perhaps our children will not even remember terrorism. Mr. President, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for the struggle you have waged and the determination you have shown for a terror-free Turkey on this path, and I express my gratitude."

"ALL THE SHEPHERD BROTHERS I SPEAK WITH HAVE PEACE AND HAPPINESS"

When asked "what will happen in the next process," Erdoğan said that first and foremost, it can be seen that traditional dances are being performed in the squares and the highlands are beginning to come alive again.

Erdoğan stated the following:

"All my shepherd brothers will now take their animals, their small and large livestock, and head to the highlands with ease. Hopefully, they will all say together in those pastures, 'these are my animals now, this is my small livestock, this is my large livestock,' and we will take pride in them. All the shepherd brothers I speak with right now have peace and happiness. Hopefully, you too will head out to the highlands as soon as you finish school, raise sacrificial animals, both small and large, and when you help your mothers and fathers—of course, they won't be ready for this Eid al-Adha, but hopefully they will be ready for the ones after that. Thus, the moment my citizen says, 'I am now living in my country free and independent,' we will have fulfilled our duty."
