Erdoğan shares update after briefing at AFAD crisis center: We have given the instructions
AKP Chairman and President Tayyip Erdoğan made a statement after receiving a briefing on the 6.2 magnitude earthquake at the AFAD center in Istanbul.
In his statement, which also included footage from the briefing he attended, Erdoğan expressed the following:
"I convey my best wishes to all our citizens affected by the 6.2 magnitude earthquake that occurred today in the Sea of Marmara and was felt in Istanbul as well as surrounding provinces.
As part of our efforts that began immediately after the earthquake, we just held a comprehensive meeting at our AFAD Istanbul Provincial Disaster Directorate.
Our Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Murat Kurum, Minister of Youth and Sports Osman Aşkın Bak, Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya, Minister of Health Kemal Memişoğlu, Istanbul Governor Davut Gül, and relevant bureaucrats were present at our meeting.
At the coordination meeting, we received the most up-to-date information and evaluated the steps taken and to be taken to minimize the effects of the earthquake. We have given the necessary instructions for the upcoming process.
As a result of our search and scanning activities since noon, thank God, there appears to be no problematic situation in the cities where the earthquake was felt. Thankfully, there is no loss of life due to the earthquake.
Our citizens should rest assured. As the state, we will continue to remain on alert 24/7 with all our units and continue to work for our nation.
I once again wish all our brothers and sisters a speedy recovery.
May the Almighty protect our country and our nation from all kinds of calamities, disasters, accidents, and troubles."
Bugün Marmara Denizi’nde meydana gelen ve İstanbul ile birlikte çevre illerimizde de hissedilen 6,2 büyüklüğündeki depremden etkilenen tüm vatandaşlarımıza geçmiş olsun dileklerimi iletiyorum.
