Erdoğan signs off: Budget allocated to Diyanet surpasses 6 ministries

The 2025 Central Government Budget Law Proposal has been submitted to the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) with the signature of AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

Accordingly, the budget of the Presidency of Religious Affairs has surpassed the budgets of the Ministry of Trade, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, and the Ministry of Industry and Technology.

According to a report by Birgün, Diyanet's budget, which was 91 billion 824 million liras last year, rose to 130 billion 119 million with a 41 percent increase.

The budgets were set as follows: Ministry of Trade 56 billion, Ministry of Foreign Affairs 39 billion, Ministry of Interior 96 billion, Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources 45 billion, Ministry of Culture and Tourism 53 billion, and Ministry of Industry and Technology 124 billion.

DİYANET'S BUDGET INCREASE RATE IS HIGHER THAN THE MINISTRY OF NATIONAL EDUCATION

According to the 2025 Central Government Budget Proposal, while the Presidency of Religious Affairs budget shows a 41 percent increase in 2025 compared to the 2024 budget, the Ministry of National Education budget increased by 32.87 percent compared to last year.

With its 41 percent increase compared to last year, the Presidency of Religious Affairs budget will also have increased above the 39 percent budget increase rate of the Ministry of Health and the 35 percent increase rate of the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

127 BILLION TL BUDGET TO BE ALLOCATED FOR RELIGIOUS EDUCATION

In the 2025 Central Government Budget proposal, 127 billion 269 million 146 thousand TL was allocated for "Religious Services and Widespread Religious Education" in 2025. In the budget proposal, it is projected that 150 billion 64 million TL will be allocated for this program item in 2026, and 171 billion 473 million TL in 2027.
