Erdoğan speaks on the Kartalkaya tragedy: Are new regulations on the way?
AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan made statements regarding the fire tragedy at the Bolu Kartalkaya Ski Center during the AKP's 8th Ordinary Provincial Congress in Antalya.
Erdoğan signaled legal regulations following the fire tragedy in Kartalkaya. Making a statement regarding the fire that claimed the lives of 78 people, 36 of whom were children, Erdoğan stated that 'if there are deficiencies in the legislation, they will take the necessary steps with the support of parliament.'
In his speech at the AK Party's 8th Ordinary Provincial Congress in Antalya, the President addressed the fire tragedy that occurred at the Grand Kartal Hotel in Bolu Kartalkaya, which resulted in the deaths of 78 people, including 36 children. Erdoğan stated that those who were negligent in the incident would be held accountable and that work was underway on new legislative regulations.
In his speech, where he evaluated the Grand Kartal Hotel fire that claimed 78 lives, Erdoğan emphasized that the tragedy was being investigated in all its aspects and that those responsible would be brought to justice.
Erdoğan stated, 'Whoever has negligence or fault in this painful incident will be held accountable before the law. We will make the necessary legal arrangements to prevent similar disasters.'
Continuing his speech, the President also criticized CHP Chairman Özgür Özel and his party's policies.
Erdoğan expressed the following regarding the tragedy in Kartalkaya:
''We will ensure that every necessary step is taken to prevent the recurrence of tragedies like the one in Bolu, where we lost 78 of our lives. If there is a problem with the legislation on this matter, we will resolve it with the support of our Grand National Assembly. We will not show mercy to anyone who bears responsibility; we will ensure that everyone who has any shortcomings, errors, negligence, or faults is held accountable.

'WE HAVE NO TIME FOR PETTY SQUABBLES'
Responding to the CHP's criticisms of the economic policies during the AKP era, Erdoğan replied to the high inflation and low wage issues raised by the opposition by recalling the IMF eras.
The President noted the following:
We do not have a single minute to spare for virtual debates or petty squabbles like the opposition. When the CHP Chairman realized he would lose his seat, he started to panic. He pontificates from a high horse at every microphone extended to him. Now he is talking about bowing down to the American fleet. Stop digging up old records and look at your former chairman who went door-to-door before the May 14-28 elections. While you were begging at the doors of the IMF and sitting with foreign investors, it was us who paid off the IMF debt and gained our country's economic independence.
CRITICISM FROM ERDOĞAN TO ÖZEL
Directing criticisms at CHP Chairman Özgür Özel, Erdoğan accused the CHP members of fighting over seats.
Erdoğan's remarks regarding Özel are as follows:
If we take Mr. Özel as a counterpart, it is a pity for us; if we don't, it is a pity for the nation. Unfortunately, he still cannot live up to the seat he occupies. The yellow card shown by 'Bay Kemal' has disrupted Özel's balance, and he is increasingly falling out of the game. If it continues like this, he will soon see a second yellow card. But we no longer take into account this power struggle within the CHP, which has become quite blatant.''
