Erdoğan's chief advisor requests to be 'relieved of duty'

Göksel Aşan, who served as a chief advisor to AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, announced that he has requested to be relieved of his duties due to personal reasons.

Aşan, who has served as a Presidential Chief Advisor for approximately 7 years, used the following expressions in his social media post:

"As of yesterday, I have requested from our President to be relieved of my Chief Advisory duty due to personal reasons. I express my gratitude to our President for giving me the opportunity to serve my country under his leadership for the past 7 years.

From now on, I will continue to serve my country as long as my health permits. During my time in office, I have received the support and friendship of many people whose names I cannot list; I ask for their blessing. May God clear our path and our future."

WHO IS GÖKSEL AŞAN?

Göksel Aşan was born in Istanbul on July 24, 1966. He completed his undergraduate education in the Department of Finance at Istanbul University in 1987. He finished his master's degree in the same department in 1991. He conducted his doctoral studies in Public Finance at Istanbul University between 1991 and 1998.

Aşan, who worked as a research assistant at Istanbul University between 1988 and 1998, began his tenure as a faculty member at Istanbul Bilgi University in 1998 after completing his doctorate.

Aşan, who received the title of Associate Professor in 2008 and Professor in 2017, held various academic positions at Bilgi University for many years. In July 2018, he assumed the role of Vice Rector at Istanbul Aydın University.

Göksel Aşan was appointed as the Head of the Presidential Finance Office by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on October 16, 2018.
