Protection expenses for AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan have increased 2.5-fold. The expenditure, which was 99 million TL in January last year, rose to 251 million TL this year.
While citizens struggle with the cost of living due to high inflation, the rising cost of living, and record-breaking exchange rates, the Palace's expenses are increasing day by day.
According to information in the financial statements of the General Directorate of Security, the Presidential Protection Department, to which the presidential bodyguards are attached, spent 251 million 404 thousand TL in the first month of 2024.
PROTECTION COST INCREASED 2.5-FOLD
According to a report by Cumhuriyet, the amount in question was 99 million 991 thousand TL in January of last year. Accordingly, the protection expenses for AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan have reached 2.5 times their previous level in one year.
8 MILLION 380 THOUSAND TL PER DAY!
In line with this data, Erdoğan's daily protection cost is equivalent to the minimum wage of 492 people, amounting to approximately 8 million 380 thousand TL.
Parliamentary questions regarding the number of bodyguards allocated to the Presidency and the number of protection personnel and vehicles assigned to Erdoğan had been submitted to Parliament previously, but no official data on the subject had been released.
The distribution of protection expenses by year is as follows:
- 2020: 263.1 million TL
- 2021: 306 million TL
- 2022: 526.1 million TL
- 2023: 1 billion 77.5 million TL.
