Erdoğan's message was cut off: CHP leader Özgür Özel reacts

On the 29th anniversary of the Srebrenica Genocide, which caused the deaths of more than 8 thousand Bosniak civilians in 1995, a commemoration ceremony was held in Srebrenica, Bosnia and Herzegovina.

CHP Chairman Özgür Özel also arrived in Bosnia and Herzegovina to attend the ceremonies. Özel was accompanied by Secretary General Selin Sayek Böke, Deputy Chairman İlhan Uzgel, Istanbul Deputy Namık Tan, Tekirdağ Deputy İlhami Özcan Aygun, and Party Assembly Member Melisa Uğraş.

Özel met with Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç, who came to Bosnia and Herzegovina to attend the commemoration ceremony, and Turkey's Ambassador to Sarajevo Sadık Babür Girgin, along with the Turkish delegation, at the meeting point in Sarajevo to depart for Srebrenica.

EMPHASIS ON PALESTINE

Touring the Potočari Memorial Center, Özel then signed the Book of Honor.

Özel wrote the following in the book:

- On the 29th anniversary of the genocide, I am here as the CHP Chairman to not forget this great pain and to continue the search for justice. Together with our delegation, we once again condemn the Srebrenica Genocide, one of the most painful and shameful massacres in human history. The responsibility lies with the entire international community. Let us remember that the mistakes of that day are being repeated in Palestine today.

Özgür Özel then performed the funeral prayer with the congregation.

"A MESSAGE BROADCAST ON BEHALF OF US ALL"

The CHP leader answered questions after the commemoration event in Srebrenica. He gave the following response to the question, "A video sent by Erdoğan was shown at the commemoration ceremony, but the video was cut off halfway through. You had a dialogue there. Can you explain?":

- Since many countries are represented here, one person from each country speaks. If there are presidents or prime ministers of the country, they speak. We were here with the Minister of Justice. However, a video message from Mr. Erdoğan was broadcast as it is every year. The broadcast was cut off just as he was making a call regarding Palestine. We moved on to the next speaker, and we tried to reach the authorities for a certain period of time. When we called our security chief, the authorities did not come at first. I expressed our reaction, stating that it was not right for Turkey's message to be cut off and that it should be broadcast again, as it is a message broadcast on behalf of us all.

CONFIRMED BY THE DIRECTORATE OF COMMUNICATIONS

- They gave us the following information in a satisfactory manner. Only one minute was left, and it was cut off in the hall only due to a cable connection issue. Upon the confirmation of this by officials from the Directorate of Communications, we stated that we were satisfied with the explanation. They said they could not go back to the beginning because it was being broadcast live. We were convinced that there was no bad intention. When it came to Palestine, we reacted to the issue because our president's message was cut off while the presidents of other countries had spoken. We are convinced that there was no bad intention.
