Two critical warnings from Erdoğan at the MKYK meeting! Whose ear did he pull?
It is alleged that AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan issued warnings on two issues during his party's MKYK meeting and implicitly cautioned Nihat Zeybekci.
The AKP Central Decision and Administrative Board (MKYK) met recently. The meeting, chaired by AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, lasted more than 2 hours.
Important behind-the-scenes information regarding the meeting has been obtained.
Nefes Gazetesi columnist Nuray Babacan claimed that Erdoğan had to issue two warnings during the meeting.
“He was angry at party members arguing with each other in public and also warned those who displayed attitudes contrary to the party's policies,” said Babacan, adding, “Who the recipients of Erdoğan's warnings were, made without naming names, became a subject of discussion among members after the meeting. Some MKYK members claimed that Erdoğan's words should be read as a warning to everyone arguing in public.”
A MESSAGE TO NİHAT ZEYBEKCİ?
According to some party members, the warning in question was directed at Deputy Chairman Nihat Zeybekci. As reported by Babacan, AKP figures claimed that Erdoğan and the party leadership were unaware of Nihat Zeybekci's visit to TÜSİAD and his statements that the March 19 political operation was harming the economy. According to them, Erdoğan gave a dressing-down to Nihat Zeybekci with this outburst.
THE GREAT FEAR OF THE ECONOMIC MANAGEMENT
Nuray Babacan claimed that the efforts of the team close to Erdoğan to bring political operations back to the agenda—such as appointing a trustee to the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality or canceling the CHP congress to hand the party over to Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu and his team—are worrying the economic management.
Stating that there are those who want to reheat this operation, which party staff intervened to block two months ago, Babacan assessed, “If these are done, there will be little left for Şimşek or the economic management to do. The economic program will be destroyed.”
The relevant section from Nuray Babacan's column titled 'Whose ear did Erdoğan pull?' is as follows:
"President Tayyip Erdoğan had to issue two warnings at the MKYK meeting the other day. He was angry at party members arguing with each other in public and also warned those who displayed attitudes contrary to the party's policies.
We learned that the headline of a media group very close to the government, which targeted Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek, was not even on the agenda at the meeting, not even by a single word.
Who the recipients of Erdoğan's warnings were, made without naming names, became a subject of discussion among members after the meeting. Some MKYK members claimed that Erdoğan's words should be read as a warning to everyone arguing in public.
More interestingly, there are interpretations that the President's warning not to display attitudes contrary to party policies was directed at Deputy Chairman Nihat Zeybekci... AKP politicians claim that Erdoğan and the party leadership were unaware of Zeybekci's visit to TÜSİAD and his statements that the March 19 political operation was harming the economy. According to them, Erdoğan also gave a dressing-down to Zeybekci.
Despite all this, names close to Şimşek claim that the allegations regarding the minister's resignation are not true. They claim that he still believes in the economic program prepared by Şimşek, that the volatility will stop over time, and that the money that left Turkey will slowly return.
The holders of this claim can make assertive statements such as, “Mehmet Şimşek trusts his program. This will allow interest rates to be pulled down after a while. New investment areas will be supported. There is no question of him resigning; the time he has set for himself is until the election. He will stay out of all arguments until the election and do his job. He will leave this post after the election...”
However, this optimistic atmosphere they are trying to spread depends on more than one condition. It is no secret that Şimşek and Zeybekci agree on the cost of the March 19 political operation. It is also known that a new wave in this direction would turn the already battered economic program upside down.
The efforts of the team close to Erdoğan to bring political operations back to the agenda—such as appointing a trustee to the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality or canceling the CHP congress to hand the party over to Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu and his team—are scaring the economic management to death.
It is known that there are those who want to reheat this operation, which party staff intervened to block two months ago. If these are done, there will be little left for Şimşek or the economic management to do. The economic program will be destroyed."
