He was a judge in the Ergenekon plot: Released on November 15.

The trial of Hüsnü Çalmuk, one of the judges in the Ergenekon case who was dismissed from his profession as part of the investigation into the Fetullahist Terrorist Organization (FETÖ), concluded in 2020 with a request for a prison sentence ranging from 7.5 to 15 years for the crime of "membership in an armed terrorist organization." The court had sentenced Çalmuk to 10 years in prison. Çalmuk was released on November 15.

12punto columnist Müyesser Yıldız announced that Hüsnü Çalmuk had been released. In a post on her social media account, Yıldız wrote the following:

"It has emerged that after Hasan Hüseyin Özese, the president of the now-closed 13th High Criminal Court who oversaw the Ergenekon plot, another key judge, Hüsnü Çalmuk, has also been quietly released under supervised probation. Çalmuk came to the hearing today to attend the Ergenekon plot trial being held at the Court of Cassation." Previously, Ergenekon Court President Hasan Hüseyin Özese, who was also sentenced to 10 years in prison for FETÖ membership, had been released in August 2023 following an application for supervised probation.
