Erol Özvar reappointed as YÖK president
By the decision of President Erdoğan, Erol Özvar has been reappointed as the President of the Council of Higher Education (YÖK).
New appointment decisions published by the Presidency have revealed that Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar will continue his duties at the Council of Higher Education. According to the decision published in the Official Gazette with the signature of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Özvar, a former Rector of Marmara University, has been re-elected as a member and president of YÖK.
Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar was first appointed as YÖK President in 2021. At that time, Özvar, who was serving as the Rector of Marmara University, was appointed to the YÖK presidency seat that became vacant following the appointment of Prof. Dr. Yekta Saraç as Chief Advisor to the President. With the decision dated August 1, 2025, Özvar has been reappointed to the position of YÖK President and will continue his tenure.
