Ersan Şen's observations on CHP's new convention process: The elective convention detail

"If Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu starts his duty today, is he obligated to hold a convention?

Criminal Law Expert Prof. Ersan Şen:

He is not obligated to start; he can refuse. If he refuses, the court will appoint a trustee committee or a committee to lead the party to a convention. If Kılıçdaroğlu does not accept the duty, the court will determine who will lead the CHP.

In other words, the CHP has returned to November 5, November 4, 2023. This is not right in terms of democracy, let me state that.

Kılıçdaroğlu needs to hold a convention, but he might not. The regular convention process will be awaited. He could initiate a renewal or go to an extraordinary convention.

There could be a crisis. What the delegates will do is important. The renewal of the Party Assembly can only happen through a convention. If the Party Assembly cannot convene, a trustee will lead the party to a convention. The CHP needs to go to an elective convention."
