Following the arrest of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Mayor and CHP presidential candidate Ekrem İmamoğlu and his colleagues, the CHP issued boycott calls against numerous brands on the grounds that they were associated with the government.
One of the companies boycotted was the coffee chain EspressoLab. EspressoLab, which saw intense boycott calls particularly on social media, has taken action.
EspressoLab has filed compensation lawsuits against numerous individuals, including former CHP deputy Hüseyin Aygün and visual designer Mahir Akkoyun.
Sharing a post on the subject, Mahir Akkoyun said, "EspressoLab has filed a lawsuit against me for 200 thousand TL in pecuniary and non-pecuniary damages." Hüseyin Aygün stated, "EspressoLab has filed a lawsuit and is demanding compensation because I called for a boycott on social media after March 19."
EspressoLab stated, "Not only has the brand value of the client company declined, but by calling for a boycott, the account holder has attempted to mobilize the masses, thereby not only trying to disrupt the commercial life of the client company but also violating its personal rights."
