Call from the EU on Gaza: We are calling for fuel entry to accelerate aid distribution

European Union (EU) Commissioner for Crisis Management Janez Lenarčič has called for the acceleration of screening processes at border crossings and an increase in fuel entries to facilitate the distribution of humanitarian aid in Gaza.

Lenarčič spoke at a panel held at the Press Club in Brussels regarding the EU's humanitarian aid efforts.

Evaluating the "humanitarian pause" between Israel and Hamas, Lenarčič stated, "Never before have so many humanitarian aid trucks entered Gaza."

Pointing out that Israel is not currently considering opening another border crossing, Lenarčič noted that the biggest humanitarian problems in Gaza are the long duration of the screening process for trucks waiting to enter through the Rafah Border Crossing and the slow delivery of aid due to the lack of fuel within Gaza.

The EU Commissioner stated that they are calling for an increase in screening capacity and for more fuel to be sent to Gaza.
