European press carries the attack to their headlines

The events that took place after the Trendyol Super League match between Ankaragücü and Rizespor have also made headlines in the European press. The Sun, one of the most widely read newspapers in England, presented the attack on referee Halil Umut Meler after the match to its readers with the headline 'Disgrace'. 

In the report, which used the phrases "The match referee was first punched by the club president and then kicked by attackers," information was also included that Turkish authorities have launched an investigation. 

Bild, one of the most widely read newspapers in Germany, also announced the attack on Meler to its readers with the headline "Scandal! Club president knocks down referee!". The report, which mentioned that Meler suffered a bruised eye and a head injury after being punched by Ankaragücü Club President Faruk Koca, noted that referees do not want to officiate matches.
