Evren Barış Yavuz released from prison

A release decision was issued at the first hearing of the case held at the Istanbul 23rd High Criminal Court regarding Evren Barış Yavuz, who was arrested due to an article titled "Why Alevis should have had a PKK" on a website and a social media post stating "They sold jet fuel."

The hearing at the Istanbul 23rd High Criminal Court was attended by the detained Evren Barış Yavuz and his lawyers Cansu Çifçi, Berke Sağlamcı, and Hasan Bektaş, while numerous members of the press also followed the proceedings.

In the indictment prepared by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, Lütfü Haluk Bayraktar, Selçuk Bayraktar, and Baykar Makina Sanayi ve Ticaret Anonim Şirketi were listed as "complainants," and the prosecutor requested that Yavuz be sentenced to between 3 years and 4 months and 16 years and 1 month in prison for the crimes of "propagating for a terrorist organization," "public insult in a chain manner," and "publicly disseminating misleading information to the public."

Following the defense statements, the court panel announced its decision and ordered the release of Evren Barış Yavuz. The hearing was adjourned to October 30.
