Exile for staff under trustee administration in Esenyurt: Journalist reassigned to sanitation department!

Following the arrest of CHP Esenyurt Mayor Ahmet Özer and the appointment of Can Aksoy—who was serving as the District Governor of Beyoğlu before being named Deputy Governor of Istanbul—as a trustee to Esenyurt Municipality, the administration has begun not only dismissing staff but also implementing reassignments in certain units that appear intended to force resignations.

Cihan Güner, an advisor to the detained Ahmet Özer, reported that staff working in the municipality's press unit have begun to be reassigned to unrelated directorates.

Announcing that İlhan Doğan, a technical staff member from the municipality's media unit, has been appointed as the new press advisor, Güner stated that journalist Zehra Çelik has been reassigned to the Directorate of Sanitation.

In his statement, Güner said, "If we do not stand behind our colleagues who are being forced to work in areas outside their job descriptions and professional codes, and furthermore forced to resign, and if we do not hold those responsible for these actions accountable, then shame on us too."

The full text of Güner's statement is as follows:

"Dismissals, layoffs, and ‘reassignments’ continue at the Esenyurt Municipality, where a trustee has been appointed. Employees working in the municipality's press unit have been exiled to other units. Journalist Zehra Çelik has been assigned to the Directorate of Sanitation. 

Esenyurt Mayor Ahmet Özer, who was detained on the morning of October 30, was arrested, and Can Aksoy, who was the District Governor of Beyoğlu before being made a deputy governor, was appointed as a trustee in his place.

Following the appointment, some individuals in the municipality were dismissed, and some were laid off. Reassignments were also carried out in certain units of the municipality.

Deputy Mayors Orhan Ayyıldız, İbrahim Halil Çalış, Oktay Kılıç, Murat Düzgün, Mehmet Hışır, Ufuk Özdemir, and Osman Yalçın, as well as Press and Public Relations Manager Sermir Burkay Kaya and Press Advisor Cihan Güner, were dismissed. Güner was later terminated.

İlhan Doğan, a technical staff member from the municipality's media unit, was brought in as the new press advisor.

Staff working in the press unit have begun to be exiled to the command of unrelated directorates.
