Experts' earthquake feud grows: Ahmet Ercan is in Şener Üşümezsoy's crosshairs

Following the 6.2 magnitude earthquake that occurred off the coast of Silivri in the Sea of Marmara, aftershocks continue to affect the region.

According to data shared by AFAD, the magnitude of the earthquake recorded yesterday at 20:33 was determined to be 4.3. It was announced that the earthquake occurred at a depth of 7.01 kilometers below the sea surface.

At 21:07, another aftershock with a magnitude of 3.7 occurred. The depth of this earthquake was measured at 7.02 kilometers. Additionally, another aftershock with a magnitude of 3.5 was recorded.

PROF. DR. ERCAN: I WILL STAY ON ALERT AND MONITOR DEVELOPMENTS WITHOUT SLEEPING

Following the series of aftershocks, Prof. Dr. Övgün Ahmet Ercan made a notable statement on his social media account. In his post, Ercan stated:

"While the M6.2 earthquake on the Thrace branch was transferring its tension eastward through aftershocks, it unexpectedly jumped to the stable Istanbul branch in the east. The small M4.6 earthquake that occurred at 20:05 coincided exactly with the epicenter of the M6.7 earthquake I have been expecting off the coast of Küçükçekmece.

If the subsequent aftershocks continue to align along the Istanbul branch, it means we are facing a very concerning situation. I will stay on alert and monitor developments without sleeping. If they do not continue, our anxiety will subside."

ÜŞÜMEZSOY'S REACTION TO ERCAN: ALL OF THIS IS NONSENSE

Journalist Sevilay Yılman stated that after Ercan's remarks, she held a phone conversation with Prof. Dr. Şener Üşümezsoy and relayed Ercan's assessments to him.

Yılman conveyed Üşümezsoy's reaction to the subject as follows:

“Let him not sleep. You sleep soundly. Let the people of Istanbul sleep, because all of this is nonsense. All the tremors that have occurred over the past 2 days are nothing more than aftershocks of the 6.2 magnitude quake. These are people who have been constantly repeating the same things since '99 to gain attention by scaring the public. Whatever I said 26 years ago, I am still at the same point. But these are people who are trying to gain followers by worrying the people of Istanbul, saying one thing one day and another the next. Don't bother me. Don't tire me by trying to make me answer their nonsensical theses."

I called Şener Üşümezsoy immediately after this statement. (We already talk to the professor 3-5 times a day??)
