Warning from experts on 'yellow serum'

Public Health Specialist Prof. Dr. Tuğrul Erbaydar issued warnings that these serums should not be used outside of hospitals or for non-medical reasons.

Serums known among the public as "yellow serum" or "atom" have become widespread, especially after the pandemic period. Procedures that individuals request as "doping" or beauty serums have also started to be performed in non-hospital settings. It was alleged that singer Metin Arolat, who passed away recently, had used such serums at his home on the same day.

AROLAT HAD RECEIVED A SERUM BEFORE HIS HEART ATTACK

Arolat's stage partner of 20 years, the famous guitarist Kaan Öztürk, suggested that just before Arolat suffered a heart attack, he had received an energy-boosting serum under the guise of home healthcare, and that this supplement might have triggered the heart attack.

Public Health Specialist Prof. Dr. Tuğrul Erbaydar issued warnings that these serums should not be used outside of hospitals or for non-medical reasons. Erbaydar stated, "In non-hospital settings, certain vitamins or substances of unknown origin can be added to these serums. Allergic reactions to these substances may occur, the person administering it may not be able to adjust the dosage, or damage may be caused during the intravenous access procedure. Therefore, this is a procedure that should not be performed by people who are not healthcare personnel. It is not right to apply this as a trend or in a 'let me go and get a serum' fashion like doping. These are procedures that must be performed under specific medical conditions and by healthcare personnel."
