Explosion at a pasta factory in Sakarya!

An explosion occurred for reasons yet to be determined in an area containing feed silos at a pasta factory operating near the Hendek toll booths on the Anatolian Motorway. A fire broke out following the explosion.

Upon notification, ambulance and fire crews from the city center, the district, and surrounding provinces were dispatched to the scene.

According to initial reports, 20 people were injured in the explosion. The injured were taken to nearby hospitals by medical teams.

Meanwhile, a worker trapped in the silo area where the explosion occurred was rescued from their location with the help of a crane through the efforts of fire crews. The worker, who was affected by smoke, was treated in an ambulance and taken to the hospital.

Fire crews are continuing their efforts to extinguish the fire at the factory.

Meanwhile, smoke rising from the scene was visible from different parts of the district.

STATEMENT FROM THE GOVERNOR OF SAKARYA: 21 INJURED, 2 CRITICAL

Sakarya Governor Yaşar Karadeniz made a statement regarding the explosion at the factory.

Stating that 12 people reached the hospital by ambulance and 9 injured reached it by their own means following the explosion, Governor Karadeniz reported that 21 people were injured, 2 of whom are in critical condition. Karadeniz announced that the injured have been intubated.

Karadeniz continued as follows:

"We have received assessments from factory officials stating that they believe there is no one else inside.

There are a total of 59 shift personnel here today, including 57 workers and 2 kitchen staff. They say that only a portion of them were in the area where the explosion occurred.

When factory officials share the final figure with us, we will share it with you."

WHY DID THE EXPLOSION HAPPEN?

The cause of the explosion will be determined by an investigation to be conducted after the fire is extinguished. It was reported that 59 personnel were working at the factory today, and some of them were working in the mill section where the explosion is thought to have occurred.

Minister of Justice Tunç announced that a judicial investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the explosion and identify those responsible.

NUMBER OF INJURED INCREASING

The number of injured in the explosion at a factory in the Hendek district of Sakarya has risen to 28. It was reported that 6 of the injured are in critical condition. Sakarya Governor Yaşar Karadeniz said that according to initial findings, the explosion occurred in the mill section.
