Expulsion request for DEM Party mayor

Jiyan Ormanlı, who was elected mayor of the Silopi district of Şırnak from the DEM Party in the March 31, 2024 Local Administration Elections, has been referred to the party's disciplinary board with a request for permanent expulsion.

In a statement made by the DEM Party, it was stated that Ormanlı had developed resistance to the co-chairmanship system, adopted an ego-centric management approach instead of a culture of shared governance, and did not recognize party decisions. Furthermore, it was stated that she failed to meet the demands and expectations of the public in municipal activities and engaged in practices that did not align with the party's local government policies.

It was reported that an application was made to the DEM Party Central Disciplinary Board for the "permanent expulsion" of Ormanlı based on these grounds. It was announced that the details and results of the matter would be shared with the public once the disciplinary process is completed.
