Eylem Tok's mother speaks out on the fatal accident caused by her grandson
17-year-old T.C., the son of Eylem Tok and renowned doctor Bülent Cihantimur, caused the death of Oğuz Murat Aci in a traffic accident. In an incident that sparked public outrage in Turkey, the mother and son fled first to Egypt and then to the USA. Images of Tok and her son taken in New York had drawn widespread reaction. A new development has occurred in the case. Tok's mother has broken her silence. Tok's mother, S.T., stated, "Eylem will have to bring the child back. They will face their punishment."
The investigation continues regarding the traffic accident in Eyüpsultan on March 1, 2024, involving 17-year-old T.C., the son of author Eylem Tok, which resulted in the death of 29-year-old Oğuz Murat Aci, and the subsequent flight of the mother and son to the USA.
Within the scope of the investigation, the testimony given to the Prosecutor's Office by the suspect father, Bülent Cihantimur, who came to the Istanbul Courthouse in Çağlayan to testify on charges of 'aiding and abetting a criminal', has emerged.
"I DID NOT DIRECT ANYONE"
Cihantimur had said, "I persuaded him to return. He was convinced, but later, due to the information he saw from his surroundings and the media, he cut off contact with me. Then I could not reach him. The last time I communicated with my son, he insistently told me that he wanted to return to Turkey.
I am ready for any kind of help. I also want my son to return. I am a person who communicates with my son frequently; this situation has also saddened me deeply. My mental health has deteriorated. I also went to offer condolences to the family of the deceased. We were reproached there, and I explained to them why we could not come.
I shared their pain and conveyed that I was ready for any kind of help. We exchanged phone numbers with his father. Afterwards, no matter how much we tried to reach out to share their pain and offer support, their attitudes had changed. They did not want to meet with us.
I want my son to return very much. I will do whatever is necessary for my son to come back. I did not direct anyone, I did not organize anything. I know my son, he wants to return. I believe that they will return with his mother and surrender to justice."
TOK'S MOTHER SPOKE
In the incident, Eylem Tok's mother broke her silence. Speaking to DW Turkish, S.T. said, "We heard about the incident from the media. It is not something done on purpose; this is a major accident. Ignorant children should not have taken the car; it ended badly. Eylem will have to bring the child back. They will face their punishment. I suppose they are waiting for the situation to calm down a bit."
"PERHAPS I WOULD DO WORSE"
S.T. continued her statement, saying, "They are not spoiled, bad children as described. My grandson would pick up a spider and throw it out the window. That is how I raised them. Since that day, I have been unable to function.
I feel so sorry for that child's mother on the other side. Does the pain of losing a child ever subside? But as she says, 'Let them come, even if they serve time in prison for one day,' I want to embrace that mother.
If I were in her place, I would do the same; perhaps I would do worse," she said.
