Facing up to 5 years in prison: İzzet Yıldızhan's defense in footballer murder case revealed
The court defense of İzzet Yıldızhan, who is being tried in the case regarding the armed attack in Ümraniye that resulted in the death of footballer Kubilay Kaan Kundakçı, has been revealed. Testifying via the SEGBİS video conferencing system, Yıldızhan claimed he was the victim of the process he endured, stating, "I am the most innocent person in this incident," and added, "I want the court to restore my reputation."
The court defense of artist İzzet Yıldızhan, who is being tried in the case regarding the armed attack in Ümraniye that resulted in the death of 21-year-old footballer Kubilay Kaan Kundakçı, has been revealed. According to information reported by Emrullah Erdinç, Yıldızhan, who attended the hearing via SEGBİS, made statements regarding the accusations against him.
"I AM THE MOST VICTIMIZED PARTY"
Participating in the hearing held at the Anatolian Courthouse via remote connection, Yıldızhan stated that he had suffered significant victimization due to the incident.
According to information reported by İhsan Yalçın, he stated in his defense in court, "I am the most innocent person in this incident. My entire reputation has been destroyed. I spent 45 days in prison. Without knowing what happened. I am the most victimized party."

Continuing his defense by touching upon the process he went through, Yıldızhan said, "I want the court to restore my reputation."
DEMAND FOR UP TO 5 YEARS IN PRISON
In the indictment prepared by the Istanbul Anatolian Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was requested that İzzet Yıldızhan be sentenced to between 6 months and 5 years in prison for the crime of "aiding and abetting a criminal."
Yıldızhan, who was arrested as part of the investigation, was released on May 5, 2026.
WHAT HAD HAPPENED?
In the incident that took place on Thursday night, March 19, on Sıddık Street in Ümraniye, it was learned that Vahap Canbay, one of the members of the group Canbay & Wolker, wanted to reconcile with singer Aleyna Kalaycıoğlu, whom he had broken up with some time ago, and had asked for help from his friend Kubilay Kaan Kundakçı, with whom he was on good terms during this process.
Kundakçı went to the front of the studio where Kalaycıoğlu was located, along with Vahap Canbay and the people accompanying him. While the group was waiting in the vehicle, an argument broke out between the parties and Alaattin Kadayıfçıoğlu, who arrived at the scene in vehicles with flashing lights. During the argument, the 21-year-old footballer, who was seriously injured as a result of Kadayıfçıoğlu opening fire with a gun, lost his life at the hospital where he was taken.
