Fahrettin Altun has been removed from his position as Communications Director, and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Burhanettin Duran has been appointed in his place.
Altun has been appointed as the President of the Human Rights and Equality Institution.
With a decree signed by AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Burhanettin Duran was appointed as the Presidential Communications Director.
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Burhanettin Duran has been brought in as the Presidential Communications Director. With the Presidential Decree dated July 9, 2025, and numbered 2025/246, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Burhanettin Duran was appointed as the Presidential Communications Director in accordance with Articles 2 and 3 of Presidential Decree No. 3.
Following the appointment, Duran made a statement on his social media account, saying, "I express my gratitude to our President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who entrusted me with the position of Presidential Communications Director. May God grant me the opportunity to provide beneficial service to our homeland and nation under the leadership of our President."
FIRST STATEMENT FROM FAHRETTIN ALTUN AFTER BEING REMOVED FROM HIS POST
Fahrettin Altun, who was appointed as the President of the Human Rights and Equality Institution of Turkey, stated, "As of today, I have left my position as Presidential Communications Director, which I have held for 7 years."
Fahrettin Altun, who was appointed as the President of the Human Rights and Equality Institution of Turkey with the decision published in the Official Gazette, shared on his social media account, saying, "As of today, I have left my position as Presidential Communications Director, which I began on July 25, 2018, with the appreciation of our President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, and which I have held for approximately 7 years. I express my gratitude to our President, who entrusted me with this duty, trusted me, and never withheld his support for even a single day. I wholeheartedly thank my family, whom I always felt by my side during my tenure, my colleagues with whom I worked together during the construction process of the Turkey Communications Model, and all media members who are the tireless soldiers of the struggle for truth."
Wishing success to Burhanettin Duran, who was appointed as the Communications Director, Altun said, "I wish great success in his work to our Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, my esteemed brother Prof. Dr. Burhanettin Duran, who has taken over the position of Presidential Communications Director. We worked shoulder to shoulder with him for many years, and we stood together in the struggle for a great and strong Turkey led by our President. I am very pleased to have handed over the duty to him."

Duran, who took over the position from Fahrettin Altun, shared a thank-you post on his social media account.

I wholeheartedly wish for him to serve our country with the same success in his position as President of the Human Rights and Equality Institution of Turkey.
