'False tweet' break in the Turkish Parliament: 'LGS' debate between AKP and IYI Party
An 'LGS' debate took place between the AKP and the IYI Party at the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM) General Assembly. The session was adjourned for 10 minutes due to the dispute.
The Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM) General Assembly convened under the chairmanship of Deputy Speaker of Parliament Tekin Bingöl to discuss the Draft Law on Amendments to Certain Laws. During the General Assembly, an "LGS" debate occurred between the AKP and the IYI Party.
AKP Group Deputy Chairman Muhammet Emin Akbaşoğlu stated that IYI Party Group Deputy Chairman Turhan Çömez had engaged in disinformation regarding the results of the exams held within the scope of the High School Entrance System (LGS), saying, "Both our CHP and IYI Party Group Deputy Chairman colleagues made evaluations. Of course, let me start from the end.
Naturally, time is limited, so when 4 separate groups make many accusations and claims against only the AK Party, it is only possible for me to respond to some of them. Look, I did not even bring this up.
I had notes on the issue regarding your counterpart, Mr. Turhan Çömez, clearly and explicitly deceiving the entire public with a false tweet and misleading them, but I could not touch upon it.
Therefore, the necessary explanations regarding public officials have been made very clearly and explicitly by the relevant authorities; the public is aware of that matter," he assessed.
"ANSWER THE BEHIND-THE-SCENES"
IYI Party Group Deputy Chairman Turhan Çömez stated, "I will not explain this speech as your Minister put it, 'as if explaining to an idiot'; he does that himself. I will explain it in a way that anyone with a conscience, common sense, morality, love for their country, and fear of God will understand. The LGS exam took place, and I submitted a parliamentary question, saying: 'Mr. Minister, 719 students received full marks. Give me the schools of these students, their provinces, and answer the behind-the-scenes.' The Minister did not deign to address this Parliament, this Assembly, and did not provide a single line of response," he said.
During the remarks of IYI Party's Çömez, there was a reaction from the AKP benches. Deputy Speaker of Parliament Tekin Bingöl adjourned the session for 10 minutes.
