Families of AKP and YRP candidates clash in Şırnak!
A dispute broke out between the families of AKP candidate Nadir Tosun, who won the election, and YRP candidate Nihat Yiğit, who lost, in the Çalışkan town of Silopi district, Şırnak. The argument between the two families soon escalated into a brawl involving stones and sticks, leaving 7 people injured.
In the March 31, 2024, Local Administration General Elections, the incumbent AKP mayor Nadir Tosun was re-elected in the Çalışkan town of Silopi district, Şırnak, with 57.54 percent of the vote, while New Welfare Party (YRP) candidate Nihat Yiğit came in second with 41.70 percent.
The dispute that began between the Tosun and Yiğit families yesterday evening quickly escalated into a brawl involving stones and sticks.

While 7 people were injured by blows received during the fight, health and gendarmerie teams were dispatched to the area upon notification.
The injured were taken to Silopi State Hospital after initial intervention by medical teams. The gendarmerie has taken extensive security measures in the town, where tensions remain high.
While the injured were discharged after their treatment, some individuals were taken to the gendarmerie station to provide statements.
