Family support payments, which ranged from 850 TL to 1,250 TL by the Ministry of Family and Social Services, have been terminated. It had been alleged that the instruction was given by Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek. The Ministry has responded to the claims.
Family support payments made by the Ministry of Family and Social Services, ranging from 850 to 1,250 TL, have been terminated. It had been alleged that the payments were cut off by an instruction given by Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek without even informing President Erdoğan.
It was reported that Şimşek argued that the payments in question placed a burden on the Treasury regarding current financial stability. The Ministry responded to the claims.
In a written statement made by the Ministry of Treasury and Finance, it was stated, "Our Minister has no instruction regarding the termination of the program."
The statement included the following:
"Since the program was time-bound, it ended automatically without the need for a ministerial signature. The Turkey Family Support Program, carried out by the Ministry of Family and Social Services, was a program launched for a temporary period in June 2022 and naturally ended at the foreseen time. Our Treasury and Finance Minister has no instruction regarding the termination of the program. In this context, the news reports in the press do not reflect the truth."
