Famous earthquake professor's house found to be illegal: Municipality issued demolition order
It is alleged that Prof. Dr. Övgün Ahmet Ercan, who was found to have made unauthorized additions to his villa in Kuşadası, put his house up for sale and left the district after having all the illegal structures demolished.
Prof. Dr. Övgün Ahmet Ercan, who frequently issues warnings about earthquakes in Turkey, has now made headlines with his own home. Ercan, who was reported by his neighbors due to illegal additions he made to his villa in Kuşadası without permission, faced a demolition order following an inspection by the municipality.
MUNICIPALITY ISSUED DEMOLITION ORDER
According to a report by Yeni Asır, an inspection conducted by the Kuşadası Municipality Building Control Directorate determined that Ercan had made unauthorized additional partitions on the ground floor, added an unlicensed floor to the attic, and built an outbuilding in the garden that violated zoning plans under the pretext of a zoning amnesty. Following these findings, legal proceedings were initiated against him by the municipality.

Despite the municipality initiating the legal process, Ercan took action on his own initiative without waiting for the legal outcome. Arriving at his house in the early hours of the morning, Ercan had all the unauthorized partitions demolished. It was learned that the illegal structure on the attic floor was also demolished.
PUT HIS HOUSE UP FOR SALE, LEFT KUŞADASI
Immediately after the demolition process, it emerged that Ercan had put his villa up for sale through a real estate agency. It was learned that Ercan, who left the district the same day, has completely departed from Kuşadası.
