Faruk Bildirici reacts to the video shared by Mansur Yavaş: 'Leave Atatürk alone'

An AI-supported video of Atatürk, shared on the official X (formerly Twitter) account of Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş for the April 23 National Sovereignty and Children's Day, has drawn attention.

In the shared video, an image of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk created with artificial intelligence technology addressed children and celebrated April 23.

Although the purpose of sharing the video was to provide a meaningful celebratory message for children, the method used was criticized by some segments.

Media ombudsman and journalist Faruk Bildirici reacted to the video in a statement on his personal X account.

Bildirici used the following expressions in his post:

“Making M. Kemal Atatürk speak with artificial intelligence is, first and foremost, an injustice to Atatürk. No one has the privilege or authority to give Atatürk a new look or make him deliver new speeches by viewing him through today's perceptions. If others try to make him speak on different topics tomorrow, what will you say? Please do not open this path… Leave Atatürk alone.”
