Fatih Altaylı reacts to the 'Nutuk' investigation launched against Soyer: 'Those who have the Nutuk at home should hide it'

The Ministry of Interior had launched an investigation into İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Tunç Soyer regarding the words he used while quoting Atatürk from the Nutuk during his speech on the Day of the Liberation of İzmir. Soyer responded to the matter by saying, "They are Atatürk's words."

While public reaction to the investigation continues, a comment also came from journalist Fatih Altaylı.

Altaylı said, "Those who have the Nutuk at home should hide them immediately," and added the following:

"Very soon, the Nutuk will be among the banned works. The copies of the Nutuk in our homes will become evidence of a crime.

Those who have the Nutuk at home should hide them immediately, bury them in the ground or something. It seems to be just around the corner.

If this case continues like this, it could lead to the book written by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and the words within it being considered a crime.

In my opinion, a case should be opened against the prosecutors who launched that investigation and the judges who accepted it."
