Fatih Altaylı reacts to Abdulkadir Selvi’s ‘he forgave’ claim! ‘This sentence reveals his ignorance…’
Journalist Fatih Altaylı has reacted to a column by Hürriyet writer Abdulkadir Selvi, known for his proximity to the government, titled "Erdoğan forgave Kılıçdaroğlu." Stating that the sentence "reveals Abdulkadir Selvi's ignorance" for using the term "forgave," Altaylı also commented on Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, saying, "Enough is enough. Let’s not have Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu inside and out. He has no value or importance to take up so much of our time. We are not talking about political corpses."
Hürriyet writer Abdulkadir Selvi, known for his proximity to the government, had claimed regarding Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, who is facing an insult lawsuit filed by AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, that "Although Kılıçdaroğlu’s trial is scheduled for January 14, 2025, he had the trial date moved forward to gain momentum within the CHP."
In his column titled "Erdoğan forgave Kılıçdaroğlu," Selvi argued that Kılıçdaroğlu was preparing for a comeback within the CHP through this trial.
ALTAYLI'S REACTION TO SELVI
Journalist Fatih Altaylı, who evaluates the agenda on his own YouTube channel, reacted to Selvi.
"IF SELVI KNEW A LITTLE LAW..."
Reacting to Selvi's use of the term "Forgave," Altaylı said, "If Abdulkadir Selvi knew a little law—I think he is an Imam Hatip graduate, I'm not sure, but—he would know that such a thing cannot be called a pardon."
Stating that "This sentence reveals Abdulkadir Selvi's ignorance," Altaylı added that he agreed with Selvi's commentary regarding Kılıçdaroğlu.
HARSH WORDS FOR KILIÇDAROĞLU: WE ARE NOT TALKING ABOUT POLITICAL CORPSES
Regarding Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, Altaylı commented, "But enough is enough, let’s not have Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu inside and out. He has no value or importance to take up so much of our time. We are not talking about political corpses."
Altaylı's statements are as follows:
"The word 'forgave' is the wrong word. A criminal is pardoned. However, since the trial against Kılıçdaroğlu has not yet concluded, there is no question of a pardon. Here, if Abdulkadir Selvi knew a little law—I think he is an Imam Hatip graduate, I'm not sure, but—he would know that such a thing cannot be called a pardon.
It would have been correct if he had said the President withdrew the lawsuit he filed against Kılıçdaroğlu, is not pursuing the case, or that the case will be dropped. But to forgive can only happen after a conviction.
Therefore, this sentence reveals Abdulkadir Selvi's ignorance. However, looking at it from the other side, I agree with his interpretation.
In this way, Kılıçdaroğlu wants to be on the agenda once again.
But enough is enough, let’s not have Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu inside and out. He has no value or importance to take up so much of our time. We are not talking about political corpses."
