Fatih Altaylı's commentary on the Palestine rally: 'Isn't this deceiving the public?'

Journalist Fatih Altaylı has criticized the rally titled "Mercy to our martyrs, support for Palestine, curse on Israel," which was organized by foundations and associations close to the AKP. Altaylı asked, "Isn't it deceiving the public to curse Israel on one hand while selling them everything, including military supplies, on the other?"

Fatih Altaylı's commentary on the Palestine rally: 'Isn't this deceiving the public?'

Yesterday, a rally titled 'Mercy to our Martyrs, Support for Palestine, Curse on Israel' was held on the Galata Bridge, organized by the National Will Platform, which consists of foundations and associations close to the government, and led by TÜGVA

Journalist Fatih Altaylı directed harsh criticism toward the rally in an article written on his own website.

In the relevant section of his article, Altaylı listed the following:

“Yesterday it was Istanbul's turn for a rally condemning Israel and Israel's attempt at genocide in Gaza.

Similar rallies are being held in many European countries as well.

Those participating in these rallies are not just Muslims; people of conscience from different religions who are disturbed by Israel's genocide are also joining these rallies and holding their governments accountable.

What is missing in our case is exactly this.

In our country, those participating in these rallies do not hold their own government accountable and are content with the government's 'rhetoric.'

Those participating in these rallies, to the government in Turkey:

-You shout and scream nicely at Israel, yet trade with Israel continues at full speed.

-About 500 ship voyages are made to Israel from Turkish ports every month; whose ships are these?

-You even allow military supplies to be sent to Israel; who is selling these materials to Israel?

-Isn't it deceiving the public to curse Israel on one hand while selling them everything, including military supplies, on the other?

– What difference is there between you and the Western governments that support Israel? Tell us so we can listen!

As long as you do not ask these questions, these rallies are empty.

They have no purpose or benefit other than to be used politically and to vent steam."
