Fatih Altaylı's response to Altınok regarding '600 apartments': 'It wasn't inherited, don't try to fool us'
Journalist Fatih Altaylı evaluated the 'inherited from father' response given by Turgut Altınok, the People's Alliance Ankara Metropolitan Municipality mayoral candidate, regarding claims that he owns 600 apartments in Antalya.
Journalist Fatih Altaylı, on his personal YouTube channel, commented on the "600 apartments" claims that surfaced after People's Alliance Ankara Metropolitan Municipality mayoral candidate Turgut Altınok declared his assets, saying, "Don't try to fool us."
Stating that Altınok bought the land in question in Antalya 10 years ago but that he does not know if there are 600 apartments on it, Altaylı noted the following:
"BOUGHT 10 YEARS AGO AND VERY VALUABLE"
"When Turgut Altınok's assets in Antalya were revealed and it became clear that he was quite wealthy, he said, 'I swear they were left to me by my father.' I don't know who the properties in Ankara were left by; they might have been left by his father or his aunt, I don't know how or where they came from. However, for example, there is talk of 600 apartments in Antalya, and I know very well that the land in Antalya was not inherited from his father. The quite large plots of land in Aksu, Antalya—where it is claimed there are 600 apartments, I don't know about that, but Murat Ağırel is very assertive on that subject—he bought those lands about 10 years ago. In other words, it wasn't inherited from his father, so don't try to fool us. Now, I have no claim that he bought it with illicit money or anything like that; I don't know because I don't know what money he used to buy it. But those lands were not inherited from his father. They are lands bought 10 years ago and they are very valuable lands.
"AROUND 150 THOUSAND DOLLARS"
Today, there is a very large development on those lands, and in that development, let me put it this way, for example, 1+1 apartments, 50-square-meter apartments, are around 150,000 dollars. I mean, even if he had 10 decares of land, and it is known that he has much more. If he had 10 decares of land and 10 blocks were built on those 10 decares, if 10 apartments fell to each block, that would be 100 apartments. If the average of those 100 apartments was 100 square meters and they were 300,000 dollars each, that adds up to huge amounts of money. I mean, I'm not in a position to do the math right now, but it adds up to huge amounts of money."
