Fatih Portakal gives a date for early elections. The IYI Party detail

The remarks by AKP Chairman and President Erdoğan regarding the local elections—'For me, this is a final; with the authority granted by the law, this election is my last election, and the result will be the transfer of a trust to my brothers who will come after me'—have ignited a new debate. In light of these discussions, Fatih Portakal has provided a date for early elections.

Following Erdoğan's statement, the post by Deputy Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey and AKP Urfa MP Bekir Bozdağ, stating that "If the Parliament decides to renew the elections during the President's second term, the President can be a candidate once more," became a major topic of discussion.

Journalist Fatih Portakal made a notable statement during a live broadcast regarding the development that suddenly stirred the political agenda. Portakal gave a date for early elections.

Here is that statement from Portakal:

"HE DOES NOT WANT TO LEAVE EITHER"

"President Erdoğan actually played with words here. The President is telling the truth when he says, 'This is my last election with the authority granted by the law.'

If he goes until 2028, he will not be able to participate, unless a constitutional amendment is in question... It is a play on words; he does not want to leave either.

We mentioned Putin, Erdoğan, Aliyev, and perhaps Turkmenistan in the world. There are 4-5 such leaders in the world, but they come to power through the ballot box; there is nothing else to be done.

THE IYI PARTY DETAIL IN EARLY ELECTIONS

They will do this, I am saying it now; they will most likely refer the matter to the Parliament in 2027. If Erdoğan calls for elections himself, he cannot be a candidate again according to the Constitution. The Minister of Justice also said, 'If the Parliament calls for elections...'

Cevdet Yılmaz said, 'We will bring inflation down to single digits in 2026.' Now all efforts are for that; they will somehow manage that on paper. The parliamentary arithmetic is clear; if 360 deputies are found in 2027, it could be said, 'Friends, we are going to early elections.'

The number of deputies for the AKP and MHP is 313. They need 47 more deputies. Can they take the IYI Party, which has 38 deputies, on their side? I think they can; that will be the goal from now on.

Will the YRP provide support? There are 4 there as well, making it 42. They need 5 more members. There are also parties we haven't counted; be ready for elections in 2027."
