Fatih Portakal reacts to İmamoğlu's single candidacy! 'What are you holding a primary for?'

The Republican People's Party (CHP) has officially started its candidate selection process and will head to a primary on March 23.

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, who received the signatures of 116 members of parliament, will enter the primary as the sole candidate.

Sözcü TV Main News Anchor Fatih Portakal reacted to the CHP's single-candidate primary.

Asking, "Can there be a primary with a single candidate?" Portakal argued that the primary should be postponed.

Emphasizing that the CHP's candidate is already clear, Portakal asked, "What are you holding a primary for?"

Fatih Portakal stated the following:

"Can there be a primary with a single candidate? I think it should be postponed. The Republican People's Party members shouldn't make themselves a laughingstock. The candidate is already clear. There is no one else. No other candidate has emerged. What are you holding a primary for? The candidate is already clear and chosen. Even if one vote is cast, they are newly elected. Therefore, I think, it was March 23rd I believe; they could even cancel that election."
