Female lawyer assaulted for objecting to irregular voting in Şanlıurfa
In the Akçakale district of Şanlıurfa, a female lawyer identified as H.A. was assaulted after objecting to irregular voting. The Şanlıurfa Bar Association stated that serious attacks have been carried out against lawyers tasked with ensuring ballot box security.
The Şanlıurfa Bar Association announced that a female lawyer, H.A., was assaulted in the Büyüktokaş neighborhood of Şanlıurfa's Akçakale district after she objected to irregular voting.
According to a report by Artı Gerçek, the statement from the Urfa Bar Association said, "Our female colleague, who objected to irregular voting procedures in the village of Büyüktokaç in the Akçakale district, has been assaulted. We are following the incident with sensitivity."
It was stated that the lawyer was on duty at the ballot box on behalf of a political party.
CALLED ON LAW ENFORCEMENT
In a second statement, the Bar Association noted that attacks were being carried out against lawyers serving as observers at ballot boxes across the city. The Bar called on law enforcement to take measures:
"Serious attacks and insults are being directed at our lawyers who are on duty as observers to ensure election security throughout the province of Şanlıurfa. We call on law enforcement officers to fulfill their duty to ensure the safety of our colleagues. As volunteer lawyers of the Şanlıurfa Bar Association, we will not leave the polling stations for the sake of a fair election."
